Situated on the hilltop of a ten-acre working flower farm, Magnolia Hill wedding venue is a beautiful blank canvas for couples to make their own. From the covered veranda to the natural-light-filled reception area, each space allows for indoor and outdoor celebrations that aren’t dependent on unpredictable Ohio weather, and this shoot was the perfect excuse to show off just how much this venue can become.
I love a good editorial shoot because it lets everyone involved dream a little bigger than a typical wedding day allows. This one leaned into rich, jewel-toned florals, deep burgundies, warm oranges, mustard, and lavender, all set against Magnolia Hill’s white, light-filled interior. The result was moody and romantic without losing an ounce of warmth, and it’s proof that you don’t have to choose between a bright, airy venue and a bold color palette. You can absolutely have both.

The veranda’s soaring windows and vaulted ceilings gave the ceremony space this incredible natural light, and the florals flanking the platform at the end of the aisle gave all the texture and movement.

Olive green satin linens dressed a serpentine table, overflowing with floral and fruit centerpieces.. Even the cake got in on the color story, a textured white base dripping in citrus, figs, and tiny florals that tied the whole tablescape together.

The model couple looked absolutely stunning walking the property’s tree-lined allée, and honestly, some of my favorite images from the whole shoot came from our time outside. The dress, the veil catching the light, the rows of trees leading back toward the venue, it all just worked. We also got to play with the green velvet drapery backdrop for a few portraits, which gave us such a rich, editorial feel for both the cake cutting moment and a few portraits.

Editorial shoots like this one are honestly some of my favorite days on the calendar. Getting to collaborate with a full team of vendors, all working toward one shared vision, pushes me to think differently about light, color, and composition in a way that real wedding days don’t always allow for.

I love that Magnolia Hill has such a great variety of locations and backdrops for portraits.
