Esther and Peter met during residency at Ohio State, first as friends, then as something more once their third year rolled around. That same warmth and ease between them showed up everywhere on their wedding day at The Estate at New Albany, a crisp October morning that warmed into a genuinely joyful afternoon.
They chose the venue for its wooded surroundings, and with their wedding falling in October, the fall foliage gave them exactly the backdrop they wanted.

Esther’s bridesmaids were her hype women all day long. Between the smiles, the laughter, and just how much fun they were having together, it’s no surprise they couldn’t help but grab their own photos of her the second she got into her dress. We spent the morning in The Estate at New Albany’s bridal suite, and it might be one of my favorite getting ready sessions in a while simply because of the energy in that room.

Esther shared a quiet first look with her dad before the rest of the day picked up its pace.

Peter actually proposed to Esther all the way out in San Diego, at Sunset Cliffs, with a photographer there to capture the surprise. So there was already a lot of history in these two sharing quiet moments together by the time their first look rolled around, and it showed. We captured their first look together before heading out to the property’s courtyard for portraits, with the woods behind them making for the perfect fall setting.

Their ceremony space was dressed in drapery and white columns with floral arrangements woven throughout, a setup that worked just as well for the ceremony itself as it did for portraits with their families afterward.

The wedding party portraits carried that same soft, joyful energy through the rest of the afternoon, framed by the wooded courtyard at The Estate.

Esther’s gown was a classic fit and flare with a sweetheart neckline, paired with a chapel length veil finished in a beaded edge. Her bridesmaids wore soft shades of blush and rose, which tied directly into the day’s color palette: light pinks, peaches, yellow, and cream, all brought to life through the florals in her bouquet, the ceremony arrangements, and the reception decor. It’s a palette that reads more spring than fall, and that contrast against the woodsy, autumn backdrop ended up being one of the most striking parts of their day. Proof that your color palette doesn’t have to match the season your wedding falls in.

A few unique touches made their reception feel extra personal. They brought in a live painter who created portrait paintings of guests throughout the night, and for a sweet, seasonal dessert, they served donuts from Lynd Fruit Farm in a fresh apple cider flavor. The Estate’s fireplace was decorated with candles and florals for the day, and once the sun went down, it turned into the perfect backdrop for a few nighttime flash portraits of Esther and Peter.

It’s rare to photograph a couple who make celebrating with their closest people look this easy. Congratulations, Esther and Peter!
